Gabrielle Heard M.A., M.F.A.

I’m Gabrielle Heard, an instructional designer, educational researcher, accessibility specialist, and founder of Plain Language Education.

I have more than ten years of experience designing learning experiences across higher education, workforce development, healthcare, technology, and community-based education.

My work combines instructional design, accessibility, multimedia learning, technical communication, and plain language to help people understand complex information and apply what they learn with confidence.

I’ve designed online courses, enterprise training programs, facilitator resources, technical job aids, scenario-based learning experiences, interactive videos, and accessibility-focused learning materials.

My background includes leading learning-management-system adoption, developing digital learning tools from the ground up, supporting faculty and instructors, and translating research into practical educational experiences.

Whether I’m designing a curriculum, improving a learning platform, simplifying a process, or creating a new instructional experience, my goal is to make learning approachable, useful, and grounded in the needs of real people.

Complex ideas don’t have to be complicated. I believe accessibility, clarity, and evidence-based design aren’t constraints—they’re the foundation of exceptional learning. My goal is to create experiences that help people feel confident, capable, and ready to apply what they’ve learned.
